A\u011f\u0131rl\u0131kta Mardin&#8217;in Midyat il\u00e7esinde ya\u015famaktad\u0131rlar. Mardin kent merkezinde ve Nusaybin&#8217;de de belli bir M\u0131helmi n\u00fcfusu bulunmaktad\u0131r. Bunlar\u0131n bir k\u0131sm\u0131 daha sonralar\u0131 Amed ve \u0130stanbul gibi kentlere da\u011f\u0131lm\u0131\u015flard\u0131r. \u00c7ok az bir kesim ise Avrupa \u00fclkelerine g\u00f6\u00e7 etmi\u015ftir. Dilleri M\u0131hellemice&#8217;dir.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">M\u0131hellemice; Arap\u00e7a&#8217;n\u0131n Q\u0131ltu leh\u00e7esi oldu\u011fu ve bu leh\u00e7enin Akadlar \u00f6ncesine dayand\u0131\u011f\u0131 ve Akad\u00e7a&#8217;dan bir \u00e7ok kelimeyi \u00f6zg\u00fcn haliyle g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcze ta\u015f\u0131d\u0131klar\u0131 bilinmektedir. M\u0131helmilerin dini inan\u0131\u015flar\u0131 ise, b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00e7o\u011funlu\u011fu S\u00fcnni \u0130slam\u0131n \u015fafii mezhebine ba\u011fl\u0131d\u0131r. Ayr\u0131ca H\u0131ristiyan ve Musevi M\u0131helmiler de vard\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">M\u0131helmileri, k\u00fclt\u00fcr ve ya\u015fam bi\u00e7imleri bak\u0131m\u0131ndan kom\u015fu halklar (K\u00fcrtler ve S\u00fcryaniler)&#8217;dan farkl\u0131l\u0131k arz eden de\u011fi\u015fik \u00f6zelliklere pek rastlanmamaktad\u0131r. Binlerce y\u0131l ayn\u0131 co\u011frafyay\u0131 payla\u015ft\u0131klar\u0131 halklarla ekonomik, sosyal ve k\u00fclt\u00fcrel de\u011ferlerde neredeyse \u00f6zde\u015fle\u015fmi\u015f gibidirler. Kimliklerinin farkl\u0131 olu\u015funun bilincindedirler. Ancak onlar\u0131 ya\u015fad\u0131klar\u0131 topluluklardan ayk\u0131r\u0131 k\u0131lan sadece dil yap\u0131lar\u0131n\u0131 korumu\u015f olmalar\u0131d\u0131r. M\u0131helmiler&#8217;de geni\u015f aile yap\u0131s\u0131 ve akrabal\u0131k ili\u015fkileri g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fcd\u00fcr. Akraba ve grup i\u00e7i evlilik yayg\u0131n olmakla beraber M\u00fcsl\u00fcman kom\u015fu halklarla evlilik ili\u015fkileri ve kan d\u0131\u015f\u0131 akrabal\u0131klar da kurulmaktad\u0131r. Ekonomik u\u011fra\u015flar\u0131 ise; k\u0131rsal kesimde ya\u015fayanlar tar\u0131m ve hayvanc\u0131l\u0131kla u\u011fra\u015f\u0131rken, kent merkezinde oturanlar ise, k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck esnafl\u0131k ve ticaretle beraber yo\u011fun bir \u015fekilde resmi devlet i\u015flerinde \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmaktad\u0131rlar.\u00a0 M\u0131helmiler, kendi anadilleri yan\u0131nda \u00e7o\u011fu T\u00fcrk\u00e7e ve K\u00fcrt\u00e7e&#8217;yi de iyi konu\u015fmaktad\u0131r. S\u00fcryanice&#8217;yi bilen M\u0131helmiler de vard\u0131r. M\u0131helmiler i\u00e7 i\u00e7e ya\u015fad\u0131klar\u0131 halklar\u0131n dilini bilmektedirler. Bu durum, bu halklarla ileti\u015fimi ve kayna\u015fmay\u0131 kolayla\u015ft\u0131rmaktad\u0131r. Fakat g\u00fcnl\u00fck ya\u015famda \u00f6zellikle gen\u00e7 ku\u015fak i\u00e7erisinde yo\u011fun olarak T\u00fcrk\u00e7e ve K\u00fcrt\u00e7e dillerinin konu\u015fuluyor olmas\u0131, kendi anadillerinin yok olma tehlikesini do\u011furmaktad\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">M\u0131helmiler hem dil-k\u00fclt\u00fcrlerini, hem de kendi tarihlerini ara\u015ft\u0131r\u0131p canl\u0131 tutmak, bu konularda bilin\u00e7 geli\u015ftirme \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n\u0131 dernek \u00f6rg\u00fctl\u00fcl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc \u00fczerinden y\u00fcr\u00fctmektedirler. Yine bu kapsamda M\u0131helmiler, her sene Nusaybin&#8217;de \u015fenlikler d\u00fczenlemektedirler. Bu \u015fenliklere hem K\u00fcrdistan&#8217;da hem de ba\u015fka yerlerde ya\u015fayan \u00e7ok say\u0131da M\u0131helmi kat\u0131lmaktad\u0131r. Bu \u015fenlikler kapsam\u0131nda yap\u0131lan etkinlikler M\u0131helmi dilinde yap\u0131lmaktad\u0131r. B\u00f6ylelikle hem M\u0131helmiler&#8217;in kayna\u015fmas\u0131 ve hem de dilin geli\u015fimi hedeflenmektedir.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">M\u0131helmiler&#8217;in siyasal yap\u0131lanmalar\u0131 ise, bir b\u00fct\u00fcnl\u00fckten yoksundur, par\u00e7al\u0131d\u0131r. \u00d6nemli bir k\u0131sm\u0131 devlet\u00e7i iktidar sistemi ile b\u00fct\u00fcnle\u015fme e\u011filimi i\u00e7erisindedir. Bunlar T.C Sistemi&#8217;nin asimilasyon politikalar\u0131yla etkiledi\u011fi kesimdir. Bunlardan bir\u00e7o\u011fu devlet kurum ve kurulu\u015flar\u0131nda memur-i\u015f\u00e7i olarak da \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmaktad\u0131r. Dini kendi siyasal ama\u00e7lar\u0131 i\u00e7in kullanan sa\u011f parti ve olu\u015fumlara meyl etmektedirler. Bir k\u0131sm\u0131 ise kendi de\u011ferlerine sahip \u00e7\u0131kan, demokratik bir \u00e7izgi izlemektedir. Ve bunlar kurtulu\u015fu, b\u00f6lge halklar\u0131n\u0131n demokratik birlikte\u011finde g\u00f6rmektedir. Sol-demokratik parti ve olu\u015fumlara e\u011filim g\u00f6stermektedir.
